Nars at Nordstrom got their testers for the Shanghai Lily collection just a few days ago, so Holly, my favorite make up artist (sooo talented, but moving to Hawaii.. sad for me but great for her and everyone in Hawaii) invited me in to get my make up done.
First she moisturized my face with their Balancing Moisture Lotion mixed in with their Brightening Serum. Then she mixed the Brightening Serum with their oil-free foundation in Santa Fe (my color), and applied it all over nose and cheeks. Then she applied the foundation alone on my forehead (to avoid a shining forehead), and around my nose where it’s red due to allergies. She topped it off with a light dusting of pressed powder on my nose.
Then she worked on my cheeks. She mixed 2 different matte bronzers and applied it lightly on my temples, underneath my cheek bones, and below my jaws. She then applied Sin on my cheek bones, then applied Luster on the apples of my cheek. She finished it all by highlighting right underneath my brow bones and the very very top of my cheek bones with Albatross. She took time to blend everything together so my face didn’t look all streaky. The end result? VERY gorgeous and dynamic.
Afterwards she went to work on my eyes using the Alhambra duo. First she applied the pink color all over as a base, then applied the gold/champagne color close to my lash lines for a contrast. Then she mixed both colors in Bohemian Gold to apply in my crease to create a contour. Then she applied Abyssinia (also new from the SL collection) right underneath my brow bones. Then she blend it to create a beautiful and polished look. To line my eyes, she dipped a wet flat brush into Night Clubbing (black/brown with gold shimmers), and just dotted my top line with it, and smudged it slightly on my bottom lashes. She topped it all off with a healthy coating (or 3) of their mascara in Black Orchid.
Then what I call Holly’s masterpiece. She custom blended a lip color to complete my whole look, and oh my god, it was beautiful. I wish it was an actual color in gloss form so I can just buy it. She mixed Chica Boom (a lip lacquer), (I think) Boogie Nights, and Greek Holiday (from the new collection) to create the pink berry color that made my lips look poutier than Angelina Jolie’s lips! The color just POPPED, and made my lips look smooth and sexy and everything you’d ever want lips to look like.
Afterwards my hubby took me out to eat, but unfortunately he didn’t appreciate my make up as much. I didn’t get to take pix of myself in good lighting since I went straight to the restaurant from Nordstrom.
Oh.. so what did I purchase?
Alhambra eyeshadow duo, Sin blush, and the Balancing Moisture Lotion (which I’ll be reviewing in another post). I did get a wonderful freebie gift too. =D
Below are pix.. I look somewhat retarded in them, but oh well.
If you LOVE my make up, call Holly at the Nordstrom at Westside Pavillion. Her last day is Feb 27th, so call her at (310) 470-6155. Ask for the NARS counter. She is WONDERFUL!
