I’ve been a HUGE fan of the Boots No7 Quick-Thinking 4-in-1 Wipe for the longest time. I was so sad when I realized that I had used up the last up my wipes. This baby takes of ALL my make up with ease, even my water proof mascara! The only thing that works better are cleansing oils like the ones from Shu Uemera and DHC. Plus it tones and moisturizes my face, so I can just go right to sleep afterwards. It was also sooo gentle on my face, without making it all red and blotchy, unlike other facial wipes I’ve used in the past. Wait.. let me backtrack a bit..
In high school, I was in Colorguard (Tall Flags), and we would put on a bunch of make up for each competition. It would be super gross keeping the make up on because all of us would get really really sweaty. Some girls started bringing wipes, and they irritated the hell out of my skin. It also dried out my skin soo much, that I started just leaving my yucky sweaty half melted make up on for the long long bus rides home. This was of course, way before I became a obsessed with beauty, and also when I had extremely yucky skin. Sooo, since that time, I’ve never been a fan of facial wipes. No7 changed my opinion about wipes once and for all…
or so I thought.
Since I had ran out, I went to Target and decided to try the facial wipe from Boots’ Botanics line, thinking that it might even be more soothing. Oh boy, was I wrong!!! This was NOTHING compared to the No7 version! My mascara and eyeliners refused to come off, and it also felt like it left a slimy yucky film on my face. It does remove foundation and blush quite efficiently, but the fact that I had to struggle to get ALL my eye make up off just irritated me. Another thing, it made my face extremely red and blotchy. This was definitely not a product that delivered…. Unfortunately, I don’t make a lot of moolah, so I’ll just finish up using them, and use something else to remove my eye make up.
So bottom line.. No7 beats Botanics hands down. Natural/botanical products aren’t always better when it comes to skincare and cosmetics, so remember that! It’s definitely more attractive to consumers, especially in our organic-green-loving world, but it’s not. Even an owner of a small cosmetics company I interviewed at said so, but his company uses them because that’s what consumers want.
So consumers, what do you want? Great products or green products? It’ll be great for there to be a great and green product, but from my experience, I haven’t seen anything like that.
