Reserved Parking

April 26th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Background info:  my apartment building has only assigned parking to 2 bedroom apartments.  It’s also an open lot, and there’s always a shortage of spaces.  On with the story…

I was studying in lab after work, and didn’t leave until around 4. I get home and there’s this Benz parked in my parking space! She’s not even parked all the way in, just half way in. I called Will, my hubby, to call the manager, but the new manager didn’t leave an emergency number for us to call.  I had no choice but to call the police number posted on the Tow Away signs in the parking lot.

I called and the police transferred me directly to the towing company, and the lady at the towing company talked to the police to see what could be done. She asked for the car’s license number and make, and they were able to find her address, and the stupid bitch is in our apartment. The lady told me to ask the stupid bitch if she would please move her car, and to call her back if there were any problems.

I tell Will the apartment number the stupid bitch with the Benz is in, and he goes to find her. After about 10 minutes he calls me and says, “she doesn’t want to move her car.” I told him that we PAID for this privilege (which we do, since only 2 bedrooms apartments get reserved parking, and we do pay a LOT for rent), but she’s still not budging. Will’s practically yelling at her saying, “Look here.. it’s 4 o’clock, my wife just got home, you have to move your fucking car! We fucking paid to park there” Btw, have you guys seen Will mad? I know his old coworkers might, but for the rest of you who think I’m “mean” to Will, it’s because you guys haven’t seen him mad. It’s not a pretty sight.

Will told me that she still won’t come down, so told him to tell her that she has two options:

1) Come down and move her car
2) We call the towing company to tow her car away

I don’t want to call the towing company to have her car towed because I know what a pain in the ass it is to get your car towed! I’ve been there, and it sucks major ass. But at 4 in the morning with no open spaces in the parking lot, and a Benz parked in my reserved space, I will have the car towed if it’s not moved!

Will comes down and tells me that she’s not responding. She didn’t even open the door and she was telling Will to have me park in the spot next to mine. Will was like, “no, that’s someone else’s spot. We can’t park there!” I get the towing company back on the phone, and was looking for some emergency maintanence number that could reach the manager to come authorize the tow when the stupid bitch saunters down and takes forever backing out. The parking space is pretty tight, and if you don’t park straight, you will have a hard time backing out because you will hit the brand new Toyota Camry Hybrid from apartment 220. Yea, she got close to hitting it. She gets out of the car and she again asks Will why I couldn’t just park in another space, and also that he didn’t have to say Fuck. Will’s like, “whatever lady”, and the stupid bitch walks away.

So yea.. people can be really stupid and annoying, especially when they do something wrong and don’t want to fix it. I’m going to talk to the manager to ask what to do if something like this happens again, and who I should call to authorize a tow. Luckily the girl lives in the apartment, and her registration has this address on it. What if it didn’t, or what if the person parked there doesn’t even live in the building?

I’m also very tempted to write a passive aggressive letter to the stupid bitch telling her exactly why she’s so stupid. Something like, “I’m really sorry to have disturbed you 4 o’clock in the morning, but upon coming home after a full day of class and lab work, I see a strange car parked in my paid and reserved parking space. I really hope you understand why you had to move your illegally parked car, and hope it wasn’t too much trouble for you.” I’d say I’d smear some lovely E. coli on the letter, but then that’s malicious, and also my strain of E. coli isn’t very virulent. Only if I worked in the anthrax or polio lab… but then every microgram of those type of pathogens are inventorized by the government, so I might have gotten in too much trouble. :P

Now I can’t sleep. GRR!  I got home around 4:10, and I didn’t park my car until 4:30.. yeaa..
